Dr. Yue Yu

Dr. Yue Yu is currently a Research Assistant Professor in Department of Land surveying and Geo-Informatics at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Research Affiliate at the Otto Poon Charitable Foundation Smart Cities Research Institute led by Prof. John SHI. Before joining PolyU as a Research Assistant Professor, he was a Postdoctoral fellow at LSGI of PolyU.

Dr. Yu received the B.Sc. degree and M.Sc. Degree from Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications in 2015 and 2018, respectively. After that, he received dual Ph.D. degrees in both Wuhan University and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2021 and 2022, supervised by Prof. John SHI and Prof. Ruizhi CHEN. He has published more than 50 SCI papers, 1 book chapter, with a total of over 700 citations (Google Scholar), H-Index reaches 15, two of which are selected as ESI highly cited papers. he has also applied for more than 20 patents and software copyrights

Dr. Yu is also serving as the Youth Editorial Board Member of <测绘学报>, Session chair and TPC member of IPIN and UPINLBS international conference, invited reviewers of more than 30 SCI journals including “IEEE TII”, “IEEE TMC”, “IEEE TWC” et al. He won the Champions of IPIN International Indoor Positioning Competition twice in 2018 and 2020, and won the nomination of excellent Ph.D. graduation thesis in Wuhan University in 2021, the gold medal of Geneva Invention Exhibition in 2023.

Dr. Yu 's research interests include Urban Informatics, Seamless Positioning and Navigation, Mobile Mapping, and Geo-spatial Data Analytics.
